Diary of my photography project

Day 1: Monday 7th May

7th May. Molly my cat. It’s photos like this that made me believe that I knew how to use my new camera.

Writing my blog has revived some of my latent artistic interests that have lain dormant since I have become a slave to the nine to five. I don’t mind my job, but I do miss pursuing artist endeavours. One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about writing my blog is sharing photographs with you.

Last week…

I bought myself a new camera (Panasonic Lumix GF3). A compact camera that can take SLR detailed photographs, but supposedly is easier to use. I thought that the stuff I learnt all those years ago in A level photography would be enough for me to understand my new camera. How wrong I was!!

My 1st post with the new camera was the Museum of Fashion and Textiles. When I uploaded my photos I was shocked (and dismayed) at just how bad they were.

So I set myself a challenge – a photography project. I’ll take a photograph every day for a week (or 5 days, depending on how I progress) till I’m confident with my new camera.

Learning from my mistakes

My good luck cat – a gift from Tokyo. A really bad photo I’m sure you’ll agree. Funny thing is it looked okay in the viewfinder. Which is worrying.

After looking at the horror of the blurred lucky cat photo, I decided on a very novel idea – read the user manual :-) I know I should have done that before, but I was so excited with my new toy that I couldn’t wait to use it.

After reading (a bit of ) the manual I took these.

So much better. Reading the user manual actually works. LOL!!

Just making sure the last photo wasn’t a fluke

Next steps.

Okay, so the last 2 photos are not that great artistically, but a step in the right direction. I know how to use auto focus now. Result!!

More photos tomorrow.

xoxo
