I wish London could host the Olympics every day!

I ♥ the Olympics in London

Okay, confession time. Ordinarily, I’m indifferent to sports. Before the Olympics I couldn’t give two hoots about athletics,  swimming and dressage wasn’t even on my radar. But the London Olympics?  I’m checking medal tables and even talking about sports with interest. Yes I’ve caught Olympic fever. LOLS. Never in a million years did I think this could happen to me.

Unprepared

I was unprepared for my feeling of pride in being a Londoner.

The opening ceremony started this ‘fever’. I have to say I loved the Queen meeting James Bond, but what clinched it for me was the young athletes lighting the Olympic cauldron. I have to admit I felt a patriotic lump in my throat.

But for me, the best thing about the Olympic Games - how happy London is!

As I predicted (to anyone who would listen!), the awful weather in June and most of July was just to make sure London could get all the rain done with before the Games. And I was right (more or less :-) ).

The weather has been gorgeous, bordering on a heat-wave.

Lets not forget the volunteers, giving their time, freely. You’ve go to love that! ♥

And I’ve never seen London look brighter, that Olympic pink was not easy to miss. I’ll miss those banners, the bunting and the bright pink signs when they’re gone.

But most of all London did itself proud. It’s hard to believe that this time last year London was rioting. I wish London could always feel this happy and positive.

The Paralympics will be here soon (29th August – 9th september) so, hopefully we can hold onto this feeling a bit longer.
